Lumberton Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting at First Baptist Church, Lumberton to celebrate both their recent facility renovations and, the opening of infant and toddler rooms in their facility. A burst pipe flooded the first and second floors of the 70 year old facility a few years ago. As Dr. Joshua Owens said in his remarks, the church took a water disaster and turned it into an opportunity to create a state of the art childcare facility. Councilmen Leroy Rising and Owen Thomas also spoke at the event, sharing personal testimonies of children and grandchildren who attended. Chamber past chair Crystal Collins reminisced nights camping out to secure her children a spot in the day care center a few years ago.
After the ribbon cutting, refreshments were served by the new infant room, and tours were offered to all present. First Baptist Lumberton is pleased to partner with Lumberton Chamber in this lovely community, and play a part of economic vitalization in Robeson County.
