The Lumberton Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on March 15th to celebrate the One year anniversary of Saving Grace Robeson County opening our door. Saving Grace is located at 273 Kenric Drive in Lumberton. Samantha Bennett is the Director and reported that the facility had rescued over 622 dogs/puppies and 78 cats/kittens have been transported to our main facility in Wake Forest! Saving Grace Robeson County was founded to impact the staggering number of unwanted and euthanized puppies and dogs in Robeson County. When they come into our facility in Robeson each one is vaccinated, dewormed, and given flea/tick preventative. They are tagged/named and taken care of until transport day. Then they are loaded and taken on a freedom ride to the farm. There they are given further medical care/spayed/neutered, etc. and adopted into their fur-ever family. Like most rescues we depend on donations and supporters for survival. Without them we cannot do what we do for the animals. Volunteers are the lifeblood of rescue. SG Rob. Co needs volunteers desperately. There is day to day work to be done involving the animals such as feeding, cleaning, exercising, taking care of the grounds and stocking supplies. There is a need for transport drivers to take the pups to the Wake Forest location. We also need fosters to help take care of puppies or sick animals. If you are not a hand on animal caregiver there is still opportunity to help. Intake documents, copying, filing, and social media updates are also a need. Maybe you like to garden, etc., we need you! We have some great volunteers but need more. College students, church or civic groups, the Real Housewives of Rob. Co, retired seniors, come on down! Saving Grace can be reached at 910-827-7132.
