The Lumberton Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, September 9 in honor of the first anniversary of Happenings on Elm. Happenings on Elm is a full-service restaurant located in downtown Lumberton that features a full-service food menu and wine and beer from French Broad River out of Asheville, NC.
The restaurant, owned and operated by Annette and Phillip Wallwork, features a large wine selection that varies in price from $5 a glass to $130 a bottle. Wine tastings are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays for $5.
The restaurant also features a large selection of local artwork for sale. Original art, prints, handmade pottery, specialty items and gifts are displayed throughout the restaurant and showcase some of the best local artists. The 3,000 square foot facility is also available for private parties. Bridal showers, retirement parties, birthday parties, or other special events would be the perfect setting in this unique venue. The restaurant features an event room that can be booked for your special event or you can book the entire building. You can purchase all your food, wine, beer or other beverages with Happenings.
“Phillip and I are so excited to bring a venue like this to downtown Lumberton. It has been my dream to find a place where I could share my passion of art and my love of wine and cooking to others,” said Wallwork. “We are excited to see what the future holds for us.”
The Wallwork’s encourages people to come by and sample the many delicious food items on the menu and to shop. The restaurant is very COVID friendly as it has small, individual rooms are available as well as take-out options.
